The official VALORANT E-sports Weibo account has made the big announcement for the location of the tournament. The first ever VALORANT Masters tournament of 2022 will be held in Reykjavik, Iceland.
The notice describes the forthcoming offline scheduled event and was made earlier today in Chinese. According to reports, the tournament will take place from April 10 to 24, which is just a few weeks after the end of the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage One Challengers in significant regions around the globe like North America and Europe, each of which culminate in late March.
Presently, twelve teams are expected to compete in the first international competition organized for the year.
The official statement read, “As host country, Iceland has hosted our recent major events brilliantly and, in the current global situation, provides the best way to ensure the success of the event”.
The announcement was although vague about whether or not there will be spectators at the event. But, the statement does claim that delivering “VALORANT events to live audiences in 2022 are a high goal.”
Taking in account the continuing COVID-19 epidemic, which is expected to restrict the travel depending on the nation; the statement claims that Iceland was selected as the venue because all teams that qualify for the event from across the globe have the highest opportunity of joining the competition.
Iceland hosted the inaugural worldwide VALORANT Masters competition last May. Sentinels were the event’s winners out of the 10 teams who participated, and there was no audience. 400 circuit points and a grand prize of $200 000 were awarded to Sentinels.
