Haikyuu!! is a cult manga for fans in Japan and all over the world. After the publication of Chapter 400 Haikyuu!! fans were worried that the manga might end.
On the 20th of July the manga’s eight-year period came to an end with the chapter 402 “Final Chapter: Challengers’, with a time jump into that of the Tokyo Olympics. There’s been no announcement about a spinoff but there’s a chance of adaptation.
The hashtags #ThankYouHaikyuu, #ThankYouFuru became popular worldwide as fans were worried about the final chapter of the manga, as it was set to end its final arc on the 28th. October. Fans took to twitter to voice their opinions about the manga and its creator, Haruichi Furudate.
How did the manga end?
The final chapter began with colorful illustrations of the various teams that gave a sense of nostalgia to manga-lovers. Our favorite characters were shown getting ready to watch the Tokyo Olympics 2021, and support their old pals. The stage is then moved to the Olympics arena where the teams that will be participating for the Tokyo Men’s Volleyball event are presented, Japan and Argentina. Oikawa is named the setter for Argentina.
This was a famous scene. It was enhanced with close-ups taken of Kageyama Ushiwaka, Kageyama and Iwaizumi while Oikawa’s earlier statements echo on the screen. Oikawa’s “petty self-confidence” was not forgotten, and his enemies were waiting for his presence on the international stage.
Hinata, Kageyama, Bokuto, Ushijima and others were made members of Japan’s team. A few memorable moments from this match include the famed quick of the duo who were freaks and the famous punch to stop the assault. The conclusion of the game was not shown, however it was certainly extravagant.
The final panel will be located within Rome which is where the FIVB Volleyball Men’s world championship 2022 will be held. Kageyama and Hinata meet and will be battling each other and determined to be victorious.
Any chance of a sequel?
It is likely that there is a sequel to Haikyuu!!. Haikyuu!! Series, as it is the norm for manga based on sports to get sequels. It’s possible it will be an Olympics edition since Furudate’s creator’s statement from seven years ago was clear that he would be releasing the Haikyuu!! Olympics edition. It’s also possible this could be the final edition.
